Hi.Im JoAnn Wirkkula.I am from Hibbing MN where I live with my husband Ron and our youngest daughter Adrienn. I have three other grown children, a son in law and two grand children. Besides my interest in visual art, I have produced a CD containing eight songs I wrote. I have sung in two local bands and performed in Mississippi Melody in Grand Rapids. I am also the Volunteer Coordinator of the Hibbing Literacy Action Center and I enjoy hobby gardening.

I have been drawing pictures for as long as I can remember. My formal training comes in the form of art classes at Proctor High School, Hibbing Community College and of course many different instructors at the Range Creative Art Center. I am mainly self taught due to much trial pass drug test and error and reading instructional books. I like to work in a variety of media including pencils, pastels, watercolor, oils, scratchboard, glass painting and etching. I have shown my work in various Hibbing locations including the St. Louis County Fair where I have received numerous awards. My favorite subjects are flowers and landscapes, but I have recently branched into portraits of people and pets.

I have been a member of the Range Artists Association Inc. for 15 years and currently serve on the Board of Directors as their Secretary.

I have been teaching in the public schools H.A.T. (Hibbing Academic and Talented) program for seven years giving instruction in basic drawing and watercolor technique to grades 3 6. I have also taught classes offered through the Range Creative Art Center for children ages 4 to 12 and for their Summer Art Camp.

I believe Art is like an opinion - everyone is entitled to it!
